Sow Good Seeds this Autumn - Sow Good Seeds

The days are getting cooler, the nights are getting longer, and the promise of winter veg grows nearer. Here is what you should be sowing now. (You can check your growing zone here).

Temperate

Leafy greens, brassicas and root crops are in your very near future. Start sowing Lettuce, Kale, Mizuna, Mustard, Spinach, and Silverbeet. Even herbs like Parsley and Coriander. Root crops like Carrots, Beetroot, Turnips and Radish can be sown directly, while brassicas such as Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower and Brussels Sprouts should be started in trays. Broad Beans will also enjoy the cooler days.

Start thinking about crops for later in Autumn, like Onion and Garlic.

Sub Tropical

Much the same as Temperate regions, leafy greens, brassicas and root crops are ready to be started now. If frosts are few and far between in your area, you can also add crops like Peas and Beans.

Tropical

You lucky ducks can grow almost anything at this time of year. Along with all of the above, you can add in seeds like Pumpkin, Watermelon, Artichokes, and Corn.
