Good seed poor instruction

I grew about 8 plants in total from my Jolly Rodger seed over summer. The plants grew well, but the cobs were not fertilised. I read later you need lots of corn planted to fertilise the whole cob. So I ended up with great tall plants but not a lot of corn. Instructions were not the best and made non mention of this. But would try again this time planting more corn and maybe in spring to early summer instead to see if that would be better. Overall nice seed fast growing just need to sow a good clump or you are wasting your time.
